Work has started!

Work on Techny Trail started this Tuesday with the removal of sidewalk
along Lehigh Avenue from the Metra parking lot entrance on Lehigh Avenue
to the bridge spanning East Lake Street. The Contractor will begin
installing the storm sewer addtions on the project this week, as well.
Construction trucks will be parked along Lehigh Avenue and there will be
flaggers to direct traffic.

The taxi stand on Lehigh Avenue across from the train station is
temporarily relocated to the cul-de-sac on Prairie Street on those dates
which construction activity on Lehigh across from the train station will
occur.

Project construction is anticipated to be complete by April 1st (weather

Construction season is here!

This proposed 10 foot wide concrete biketrail on the west side of Lehigh Avenue from Chestnut Avenue to Glenview Road is planned to start construction within the next two weeks (weather dependent) and is anticipated to be completed by early May 2011. This project was funded through a federal CMAQ grant and will complete the portion of the Techny Trail between The Glen Metra station to the north and the Metra station located in downtown and will provide opportunities for future bike lanes and/or paths extending south, east, and west of Glenview Road and Harlem Avenue as outlined in the Village’s Bicycle and Sidewalk Master Plan. This bike trail also extends to the new Glenview Public Library.
